Hands-on Workshop: Building Intelligent Applications with Azure Open AI - Part 1
Hands-on Workshop: Building Intelligent Applications with Azure Open AI - Part 1

Please note that the workshop consists of Part 1 (9:00 to 11:45) and Part 2 (13:45 to 15:30). To get the most out of this workshop you need to attend both parts.

We are excited to offer this hands-on experience to attendees of the OOP conference. In this workshop, we will work together on practical scenarios and learn how to:

  • Use prompt engineering techniques for effective generative AI responses in OpenAI.
  • Improve the efficiency and quality of responses by using embeddings when interacting with an LLM.
  • Gain experience in using AI orchestrators such as Langchain/Semantic Kernel with Azure OpenAI to enable complex AI flows.
  • Contribute to improving LLM responses with your data and context by evaluating different vector stores such as Azure Cognitive Search/Redis.
  • Integrate scenarios with data, context, and user input into an intelligent application on Azure.

To participate in this workshop:

  • Bring your own laptop.
  • Ideally you have basic experience in Python, GitHub, and Azure.
  • You already have a GitHub account. If not, please create a free account before the workshop.

The workshop will be led by experienced experts who will help you improve your practical skills in the field of artificial intelligence and connect you with other developers on the same learning journey. We look forward to welcoming you to this workshop.

Dennis Zielke is specializing in the development of intelligent, scalable and distributed applications in the cloud. He is working as an software architect with enterprise customers and partners to design, build and deploy custom applications based on cloud native technology and open source technology stacks.

Carsten Lemm is a Senior Technical Specialist in the App Innovation Sales team at Microsoft in Munich. He has been working in the space of distributed applications & microservice-based architectures over the past 30 years, and has a specific focus on enterprise integration solutions involving messaging and eventing services. Recent focus is on designing scalable AI-infused cloud-native apps and how to deploy and operate them in Azure.

Daniel Meixner is an App Innovation Specialist at Microsoft and works with cloud architectures, developer tools, AI, and intelligent applications. In various roles - from developer to evangelist - he has experienced the “good, bad, and ugly” of software development extensively and from various perspectives.
